About Emmanuel Dudu

Emmanuel Dudu is a seasoned artist appreciated and highly respected in the global art collecting community. Beyond being a canvas artist, he dabbles into installations every now and again when commissioned to. One of his repurposed art installations hang in the main attrium of Maryland Mall Lagos, Nigeria. Another stands in Muri Okunola Park Lagos, Nigeria.

As a master degree holder in Art History from the prestigious University of Lagos Nigeria, Emmanuel values the importance of education and attributes the success he enjoys in his career to continuous learning.

Throughout his career, he has participated in over 30 exhibitions - both groups and solo - and has bagged many recognitions as an award winning artist, albeit not limited to:

  • Spain through Nigerian Eyes - by the Spanish Embassy in Nigeria

  •  Imagining Venice - by the Italian Embassy in Nigeria

  • Unbreakable Nigerian Spirit - by Nigerian breweries plc and Heineken international in conjunction with African Artist foundation

  • Africanice 08 - by the Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilization (CBAAC), Federal Ministry of Tourism, Culture and National orientation

  • Recyclart art competition - Art competition on repurposed materials organized by Sterling Bank Plc.

  • 101 Nigerian Artist written by Ben Bosah.

Emmanuel’s works reside permanently in the collection of the King of Morroco; Mohammed VI Museum, Rabat, Morocco.

He is best known for his playful styles, his depiction of human expressions, how he sublimely captures family life and remarkable moments that happen in family cycles. He is also often fascinated by nature and lush green as can be seen in some of his landscapes, all drawn and inspired by his travels.

In his participation of this miniature art salon as part of the 'small is beautiful.' exhibition series, Emmanuel does not fail to wow us in every work exhibited.

“I feel art should be self explanatory. My inspiration comes from my immediate milieu as well as current global trends. I am more particular about documented art, and as such I want to create the kind of art that can easily be understood. This ensures I don't have to answer questions such as; ‘WHAT INSPIRES ME TO CREATE IT?’; ‘WHAT IT SIGNIFIES OR REPRESENTS?’; ‘WHAT IS UNIQUE OR SPECIAL ABOUT HOW I COME ABOUT MY ART?’”

— Emmanuel Dudu (2022).
